How I Will Work for Avondale
Whether or not I am the most knowledgeable about every issue, I have the skills and the will to do the work. I’m a voracious learner, committed to understanding every side of every issue, and to being a liaison for every voice in our community.
I don’t have campaign promises, other than in every decision I will make, the community of “we” comes before an agenda of “me.”
I’m someone you can trust get decisive, unfiltered, and straightforward answers, and I always approach challenges and concerns as constructive, never dismissive.
These three attributes define how I plan to work for our city:
Collectivist
The role of public servants is to consider the greater good of the entire community they serve, which transcends any individual, including themselves. I’m willing to take the time to listen and consider as many angles and inputs as possible, and I’m willing to make hard decisions that involve compromise, even if it doesn’t benefit me personally.
Communicative
Being open and transparent, and communicating plainly and clearly, is the hallmark of an effective government. Professionally, I’ve been in business communications for more than 20 years. It’s my job every day to absorb and process complex information and help make it understandable for everyone. Through that experience, I’ve learned the value of holding oneself to the highest standards of honesty and openness. Transparency is not just about distributing information, it’s about doing so with clarity and responsiveness.
Collaborative
We all think differently, and that’s what excites me about public service. Of course, there will be disagreements and genuine impasses. When these arise, collaboration is productive, combativeness is not. We all lose if we approach community challenges as conflicts instead of opportunities to work together toward the best possible solution.
